QUESTION 4 - HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?
All the technologies that were used to help us create and develop our final product:
- Camera: construction and evaluation
- Tripod: construction and evaluation
- Apple Mac: construction, research, planning, and evaluation
- Final Cut Pro: construction, evaluation
- Itunes: research
- Youtube: research, construction
- Weebly: planning, evauation
- Prezzie: planning, evaluation
- Google Chrome: research, planning
- Photoshop: construction
Camera
We had previously used the same camera in filming our swede task, this proved to be incredibly helpful as we had all the knowledge and experience we needed to final our teaser. We uploaded this clips from the camera to the computer by filming with a memory card and then putting the memory card into the computer. |
Tripod
The first time our group ever filmed it didn't even occur to us to pick up a tripod. We then immediately learnt that this was a mistake when we uploaded our clips onto the editing software as all the clips were shaky, unsteady and looked incredibly unprofessional. After this experience we chose to use a tripod for every shot we filmed and learnt that we could change the height of the tripod legs in order to create the shot that we wanted. We also used a tripod bag when taking to tripod to different locations in order to avoid and damage to equipment |
Apple Mac
The computer we have used for everything we have done is an apple mac. It was incredibly helpful as it allowed us to use a wide range of software's that helped to create our product. |
Final Cut Pro
The editing software that we used to edit our video was final cut pro. It has been incredibly useful as it has allowed to us to edit our clips and music, it has also allowed us to add effects and transitions to clips. |
Itunes
We were also able to access Itunes which gave us a selection of music to choose from. However after realising that many of the songs featured were not royalty free and the ones that were did not suit our final sequence we chose to use youtube to find a more suited music clip. |
Youtube
We used youtube in order to find the clips used for our production and distribution company and also the music. We found this very useful as the website allowed us to identify the clips that we liked and were also royalty free. After we found a music clip we liked we converted it and then uploaded it to final cut pro, after realising that although the clip was effective and fit the genre it did not fit our sequence as all the climaxes of the clip did not correspond with the sequence. We then had to slice the music clip up and strategically placed the parts that complemented each other together. |
Weebly
Weebly is a user friendly web-base website creation tool that we have heavy use of during our coursework as a means to gather, organise and display information. |
Google Chrome
Google Chrome is a website that our entire group is familiar with and we used in order to research and develop our idea. We used google chrome to access other websites such as: IMDb, LOVEFilm, Amazon, and Metacritic. All of these websites proven to be astonishingly helpful as they helped is to identify which other products were popular in our chosen genre, slasher. After realising what was popular the websites then allowed us to see the the trailer, a summary of the plot and also the cast. We used this information to help us make choices about our product so that we knew the product we be popular. |
Metarcritic showed us films that were popular in horror. This was helpful as it helped us see what was popular and also where possible gaps in the industry were.
|
Google also proved helpful as it showed us the slasher films that were most frequently spoken about on the internet.
|
Amazon proved to be incredibly helpful as it allowed us to search for the mist successful slasher films, this then allowed us to recognise the features of which that contributed to their success, and we could then incorporate them into our own.
