Real Trailer Analysis:
Maniac(2012) is an incredibly effective horror trailer, and one we plan on using as inspiration because of some of the similarities between the plot to our pitch. Maniac is a psychological slasher based around Frank, who stalks, murders, and scalps a woman one night, attaching her hair to a mannequin that he then keeps in his bedroom. This then develops as the film goes on and the reason he kills is because of the negative relationship he had with his Mother. This is similar to our plot as we also focus on a mentally unstable killer who murders women after being rejected when he was younger.
One of the reasons that this is such a effective trailer is because it is made up of almost entirely point of view shots from the killers perspective. This is a rare feature from the trailer and forces the viewer to almost walk in the killers footsteps, resulting in a unnerving and disturbing experience. (EB)

Let me in is another effective horror trailer, one of the reasons for this is that it manages to show elements of the plot, while also leaving the viewer curious and wanting more. It does this through the combinations of the shots, voice over, and titles. The shots all have very different lightning and locations, this adds interest to the audience as we can assume that the films is going to be fast paced and will have different atmospheres throughout. The titles 'IN A QUIET TOWN AMONG ORDINARY PEOPLE SOMETHING WICKED LIVES' also add suspense to the audience, this ties in with the voice over. EB
For our inspiration, I analysed the film House of Wax (2005). The slasher features a group of not so clever teens who end up stranded near a wax museum. But not any ordinary wax museum. This wax museum was created by a serial killer who targeted the innocent for his display. The film then follows the teens in their bid to fight for survival against the antagonist's clutches. This is similar to our trailer because the killer in this film obviously has some deeper issues, but instead of covering his victims in wax, he plans to take their limbs and "redesign" his perfect woman. I have chosen to analyse the the teaser trailer The Woman in black(2012), even though our horror is the genre slasher it thought this was an incredibly effective trailer. Sound throughout this trailer was incredible the use of Diegetic and Non-diegetic sound really made the trailer effective, using the childs voice to read the peom with the use of the toys making a Diegetic sound really made it more creepy and added to the overall genre of the horror.
